Bardas de Balie: Mexican Wall Painting
Bardas de Balie: Mexican Wall Painting
Bardas de Balie: Mexican Wall Painting by Patricia Cué is a richly illustrated study of characteristic Mexican mural signs painted by hand to advertise music events and dances. While visually similar to graffiti, the signs are all painted with paint and brush, and the book introduces those that produce these temporary pieces of advertising: rotulistas (sign painters).
The text is in both English and Spanish, and offers a detailed account of the medium. The wide-ranging photography means that the book can also be enjoyed as a purely visual reference.
